Battle Description

Turn 1

Each side advanced quickly. The Klingons deployed in two squadrons, with the three D-7s on the right and the three D-19s on the left. The Imperial Klingon States maneuvered a pair of Scrap Dogs and a pair of Kestrels on each flank.


Turn 2 2

Now things got violent very suddenly.

After having feinted to the left, the IKS left flank crossed quickly to the right, breaking the D-7s' locks behind the planet and concentrating the full IKS squadron against the Klingon D-19s.

At a range of about 110,00 kilometers each side opened fire. The D-19s engaged the Revenge in Blood. Luck was not with them, as only two of twelve torpedoes hit, along with five of twelve disrupters. IKS return fire consisted of only three torpedoes and three disrupters from the off-sides of the Kestrels. Klingon damage was minor, but the IKS's Revenge in Blood was temporarily out of the fight with its sensors down.


Turn 2 3

Seconds later, the IKS squadron closed into short range on the D-19s. The Knift Thrust engaged the Striking Eagle, doing modest damage. The Vulture and Hawk fired ten photon torpedoes and fourteen disrupters into the Darn Mean causing its warp core to overload and explode. The Hand of Destruction, Jennifer's Rage, Eagle, and Raven hit the Yellow Snow heavily, causing it to lose power temporarily. Further damage from the explosion of the Darn Mean smashed the Yellow Snow's warp core, leaving it dead in space.

Meanwhile, the Klingon D-7s moved up on the Hand of Destruction and engaged it without sensor locks. In a show of atrocious luck, twelve disrupters and three photon torpedoes all missed.


The Klingon player conceded defeat prior to Power Allocation for Turn 3. At this point he had lost one-third of his force's Combat Efficiency and about 45% of his total fire power against no meaningful loss for the IKS. It was obvious that the Striking Eagle would die early in the third turn, and the remaining three D-7s would be no match by themselves against the majority of the IKS squadron.
